WESTERN RED CEDAR
When it came to selecting core structure and decorative cladding for our ice baths, Western Red Cedar was the easy choice. Known for its natural beauty, durability, stability, and a sweet signature smell. It has a clean, straight and even grain, and is relatively knot-free, giving it a silky smooth look and feel.
Western Red Cedar has rich and variable colours that add a unique aesthetic appeal to our ice baths. Extremely durable due to the natural preservatives present in the wood, its shrink and warp resistant properties provide your ice bath with superb stability whether installed indoors or outdoors.
For those outdoor installations of your ice bath, rest assured it will stand the test of time with Western Red Cedar being particularly resistant to staining and discolouration.
Some native tribes on the Northwestern Coast of North America refer to themselves as “people of the red cedar”, giving testament to the trees versatility and applicability for so many applications, especially our Ice Baths!!

IROKO
According to a global count of tree species by thousands of researchers, there are over 73,900 species of tree in the world. Remarkably, only Iroko and 1 or 2 other species are able to withstand prolonged exposure to moisture because it contains resin that prevents it from absorbing moisture.
Grown in tropical Africa, Iroko is a naturally oily, waxy wood that’s resistant to large changes in its moisture content thanks to its natural habitat and exposure to the elements such as intense, dry heat, wind and rain. Ranging from golden to a medium brown colour tone and presenting an interlocked grain and open pores, Iroko is a beautiful timber with plenty of character.
